About Matro's Travel

Are you like me? Do you feel as though travel is not a break from “normal life,” but in fact when you feel most yourself? Are you happiest when you step out of your comfort zone and into totally new surroundings? If so, I’m thrilled that you’ve discovered Matro's Travel. 

I'm Matro, a globetrotter who hails from a small village in Southern Germany. My journey began at 17 when I left home and made my way to Nuremberg. After completing an apprenticeship there, I found myself back home, realizing Nuremberg wasn't the perfect fit either.

At the age of 19, I took a life-changing solo trip to the vibrant streets of New York. This journey became one of the reasons why I decided to leave Germany for Ireland.

In December 2013, I embarked on a bigger adventure, making my way to Ireland. Eager to explore the island, dive into a new life, and confront fresh challenges, I set out on a path that has taken me around the world.

Now, I'm on a global escapade, soaking up the beauty, meeting diverse people, and unraveling the histories of different places. I thrive on doing the things most people won't, whether it's climbing cliffs, hitchhiking in uncharted territories, or exploring cities in my own unique way.

These experiences are my joy, and they drive me to share them through this blog. I'm on a mission to let people across the globe see the realness of life and how it can truly be lived.
