Camino del Norte – Part 2 Dogs and monks

Jakobsweg Spain Scallop camino

Camino day 4 – Also pilgrims get drunk This morning I woke up as the first one and felt pretty sick. I took some medicine and had a light breakfast before I started to go. I left my backpack at the bar and started walking through Vilalba all the way through the pretty meadows. After a while, I found a nice pub in the middle of nowhere and decided to have my proper breakfast there. When I went in there guess who I saw? The group from yesterday! Unfortunately, they already had their breakfast and left already, but I knew …

Camino del Norte – Part I

Day 1 – Let’s get started! My first day started already terrible, I looked outside the window and it rained! I haven’t seen the sun for several days, but it didn’t rain so far, so this was something new. Fortunately I had my raining jacket with me, but still, starting the camino with rain? Not the best thing to do. After breakfast I overcame my anger and started the walk. I have to walk 30 kilometers to arrive at my destination. I never did this in my life before, so this was something quite new. On my way I saw …

Goodbye France and hello Spain!

On the next day I went to the bus station of Toulouse to wait for the train. From there I had a 5 hour journey to San Sebastian. I saw the border of France and Spain, which is a bridge crossing a beautiful river.   San Sebastian   I arrived in the late afternoon and had to walk around 30 minutes to the cheapest hostel I found, it was inside a park on the top of a hill, far away from the city center. I kinda regret my decision of choosing this hostel, as it was really far far far …

Toulouse and my first experience with blablacar

This morning I was so shocked when I woke up! I actually slept for 10 full hours which didn’t happen in a long time. This is already a good sign for a good start in the day! So I packed my stuff and got ready for the new challenge! As Carcassonne was a very touristic place, I just couldn’t stay there any longer without spending too much money. So I decided to go to Toulouse instead. I went out of the hostel, enjoying the last moment in the citadel and walked down towards the city center. Now I actually saw …

Carcassonne – The beginning of a new life

Today is the day! The day, I finally start my trip around the word! I am sitting here at the Dublin airport and trying not to cry about all the things I left behind and instead I try to focus on the adventure I am going to discover! And the first city I am going to visit will be Carcassonne. Unfortunately I just met someone and I need to leave him behind, which makes everything even more difficult for me. But I worked so hard to get here, I can’t just stop! The plane was ready to start and I …

Amsterdam day 3 – Van Gogh Museum – next try

Amsterdam houses

Today is the day! We will finally go to the Van Gogh Museum. This time it will work for sure! But first we had to get ready, get ready, have some delicious breakfast inside the hostel and go out to get some cheese. Amsterdam is famous for its cheese and you can get it in nearly every souvenir shop. There are also a lot of shops specialized in cheese and selling every imaginable sort of cheese. The amount of cheese you can find in Amsterdam is incredible! As many stores also have taste samples you can also just eat cheese …
